Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic

The Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic provides free legal assistance to, and advocacy on behalf of, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Clinic aims to use the law to reduce unfair and unjust treatment of homeless people, to construct sustainable pathways out of homelessness, and to promote fundamental human rights.

Medical reports are often required to support an application for revocation of unpaid PERIN fines on the basis of 'special circumstances', or to support an application for compensation as a victim of crime.
Below is a list of health services that can be accessed for free, and can provide free medical reports, provided that the patient:
calls beforehand to explain their special circumstances and to make an appointment;
provides a Medicare Card
provides a Health Care Card if possible. Health Care Cards can be obtained through Centrelink:

The Centre provides free, confidential legal advice to anyone who has experienced mental illness or had contact with mental health services. Based on consumer consultations, the Centre also conducts law reform, policy work and community education. Legal advice can be given over the phone. Advocacy for individuals can only be undertaken if the legal problem relates directly to their mental illness. The Centre can help with:

Complaints about the Mental Health System, Community Treatment Orders, involuntary detention, Administrators or Guardians
Problems with criminal law, family law, child welfare or unfair discrimination
Accessing medical files
